Procedure to Apply for DHA ( Dubai Health Authority ) Nursing Registration

Dubai is one of the most beautiful cities of the world and is ranked well for the ease of living. If you are a nurse , you can have a rewarding career in Dubai . The pay is good and a balanced work culture is guaranteed. It is your opportunity to save money if you like since there is literally no tax on your pay . In western countries also the pay is good for nurses, but tax usually takes a big cut in her salary, say sometimes up to 40 percentage.

DHA ( Dubai Health Authority ) Nursing Registration

If you want to work in Dubai as Nurse you need a Licence. DHA ( Dubai Health Authority) is the authorised body to issue the licence. The Application Procedure is done online. To apply for DHA Nursing Licence you have to meet certain requirements . The licensing requirements are applicable to both nursing graduates from UAE and international universities.

Please visit this  Nursing and Midwifery Licensure Requirements Page of DHA to know more about it. The below given link will take you to that page.

Documents Required   for DHA Nursing Registration

Below are the list of documents that should be CLEARLY scanned for your online application
  • Copy of Graduation Certificate
  • Diploma Certificate
  • Transcript
  • Experience certificate by Human Resources, Nursing or from a Medical Director
  • Nursing Registration Certificate
  • Good standing Certificate from the Licensing authority
  • Passport Copy
  • One color Passport size Photo with white background.
If you are Post Basic B.Sc Nursing candidate from India,  then you should also upload along with the above documents the following as well.
  1. Diploma Certificate
  2. GNM Registration Certificate
  3. GNM Transcript
  4. GNM Mark Lists
Scan all these documents and name it according to what they are and upload in the required field.

From the site, select the Health Regulation Service menu where you will find the the option “New Professional License.”

This will pop up as a separate window which will walk you through your application, each step requires documents to be uploaded as clearly instructed.

Name all documents instead of numbering. Remember to update each page as you move on, unsaved documents cannot be retrieved when you log on for the next time.

Once you finish, it will prompt you to a menu where you need to provide details of payment.

Here you have to do your initial payment of AED 210/- through a credit card ( Local credit card - or international credit cards, in India ICICI and SBI cards will work)

Once you complete the payment your application gets submitted for verification, it may take few days to 6 weeks to get a feed back from DHA officials. If you won't get any feed back in the prescribed time period then you must follow it up by sending an email to Regulation@dha.gov.ae.

After Initial verification of your submitted documents DHA staff  will intimate you about the corrections to be done, like uploading missing document or uploading additional documents etc.  You can correct the mistakes you have done  and submit it again for approval.

Please read all the instructions clearly and fill in forms and submit documents accordingly .

After submitting all the documents, DHA personnel will again review your application and approve it. Then they will send you an email above Primary Source Verification and the payment to be made for that as following.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

========================================================================

The payment for primary source verification is  AED 700/- . If you wish to postpone your payment, you can do so , but atmost  3 months only . But it is good getting it done as soon as possible, as I am told.

This PSV (Primary Source Verification) will verify the credentials submitted by an applicant from its origin . The results will take 30 to 60 days and is received via email. You can also follow up on your status through their website. Just follow the instructions clearly given. After this you will be given an Eligibility Number, which is used to schedule your exam.

Update : The PSV fee has been increased to AED.932/-  from 700.

Scheduling your DHA Nursing Licence Exam

Go to link to schedule your exam, here you need to provide your Eligibility Number. Fee to schedule the exam is 170 USD, can be paid through an international credit card. You can clear your confusions by checking the FAQ'S here.

Update. I heard that the exam fee has been increased to 232 USD from 170.

Prometric Exam for DHA Nursing Registration

Exam is computer based and it is a multiple choice assessment. You have 2 hours to answer 70 questions. You will get the result in two days through mail. If you pass the exam, you will receive an eligibility letter which you can attach to your CV while you apply for a job in Dubai. The letter is valid for only a year ( 1 year). Once you have a sponsor/employer, they will do the remaining formalities. You can find the updates in your Sheryan ( DHA Account).

Minimum 2 yrs experience is needed to apply for DHA exam, and it is not must to have the experience from your home country, experience from any other country is also acceptable.

Now what you can do is, just put a comment on DHA application site. Give a brief explanation on the admission criteria for Diploma in nursing in Nepal, they may give some suggestions. Else send a mail to DHA, in the given mail id quoting your application number.

    1. Data Flow is one of the agencies which help public and private sector organizations to detect fake documents, employment certificates, practice licenses, passports and work permits, ensuring that the professionals they hire are legitimate and qualified. It is mandatory for DHA and HAAD. HAAD means health authority of Abu Dhabi- Same like DHA, if you want to work in Abu Dhabi, you should get a HAAD licence.

    1. Hi Biju, Getting a job is not so easy because of new immigration rule. The best thing you can do is to get a 3 months visit visa, if you know some one there (for accommodation and guidance). Do not weight for high profile jobs, try to accept a job which pay a decent salary like 5000-6000 aed with accommodation and get your eligibility letter converted to license. As there is no labor ban for nurses you can change your job after this. I have no idea regarding agencies.

    1. Hi Lijo, You can apply for DHA but as an assistant nurse, to get a license as an RN you should get a bachelors in nursing.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi Sonam, Data flow and PSV usually completes with in a month, but in some cases it is taking more time like 2-3 months or even more. Getting a job with high salary is not very easy but you can start up with a job which pays 60-90000/- and can change to new one after 6 months.

  63. Hello again, I wanted to ask about my husband too. He is MBBS graduate from Cuba with 5 years of experience in clinical setting. He is currently working in Bhutan. I wanted to know how good are his chances of working there in Dubai and what must be the pay scale for a doctor? And I had a doubt with his university as he graduated from Cuba. Whether the DHA accepts graduates from Cuba or not? How good are the chances of getting a job for him? Thank you

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi Sonam, UAE usually recruits specialists with MD/MS in a specific filed of medicine ( like physician, dermatologist, opthalmologist...)So the chances of getting a job is less, still give a try as he has done his MBBS from Cuba, if the curriculum is U.S based.

    2. Ohh ok. Thank you for your reply. I had seen employment agencies online which promises to get the licensure but they don't gurantee a job but they said they can help to search for a job for a doctor. But it seems like it's tough for a MBBS doctor to get a job in Dubai. Have you seen any doctors with just MBBS getting a job there? I mean international doctors.

      Delete
    3. Hi Sonam, I will be able to give an exact answer for this one in a month. I haven't seen any MBBS expatriate doctors, all are specialists.

    3. Hi Gil, Usually they ask for a RN experience in a clinical setting, you must be on a direct patient care area. I believe that your role as a healthcare technician was something similar to direct bed side nursing. If so you can apply for the post of registered nurse.

I'm intended to an NCLEX exam soon, in order to get a RN licence under Florida nursing board . One of the requirements is to get a licence verification from Dubai . Just to fill a form by a concern person from DHA. I have filled half the form and the rest they have to do .
What shall I do to get one of those ?

    1. Hi Job, You don't need a data flow assessment again, you have to pay the initial fee (210) and then you can book for the exam. If you add any additional certificate then PSV will be done again. There is no options to get your score sheet, you will just get a pass/fail result.
