Nursing Registration Renewal- Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council

KNMC used to issue a life time registration for the nurses and midwives until few years back, but now the registration is valid only for a period of 5 years. As per new update those who completed their registration after 1990 should renew their nursing registration now and there after every 5 years to keep it valid. Here I have attached the last memo from the registrar on renewal.

How to renew Kerala Nursing Council registration

Kerala Nursing Registration Renewal Process

As I have mentioned in my previous post, KNMC registration has to be renewed in every 5 years. The procedure is completely on line but you must check the instructions given in the site regarding the time frame allowed for renewal. If you fall under the given time frame, you can proceed with the application. The instruction is given at the top of the page where you start your online application.

To renew registration, go to KNMC site , at public access bar click on application for renewal.

On next page click on application it will take to a new page where you have to enter the details.

Read the instructions carefully to see whether you belong to the eligible time frame. If so proceed with the application and complete it.

Once you complete, submit the application and you will receive the application number in your e-mail. You can use this application number and date of birth to reopen the application (View application) .You will not be allowed to do corrections after the payment, so review the application for any errors. After submitting the application you  will be directed to payment page , you can choose a convenient method. Once the payment is updated you can take a print out of the application and send it to the council by speed post along with the payment receipt and original registration certificate.

After renewal, KNMC will send back your new Registration certificate along with the  cancelled registration by post. 

Renewal Fee: Rs- 500/-

Mandatory KSNC registration renewal for nurses in Karnataka and Abroad

Karnataka State Nursing Registration Renewal in 2020

Karnataka State Nursing Council (KSNC) used to issue Registration with life-Membership. In fact, certificates issued with Life-Member seal were valid until the year 2017. Later, KSNC has scraped Life Membership rules and as of now, the registration certificates has to be renewed every 5 years. Many nurses with Life-Member Registration certificates still do not know they have to renew their KSNC Registration.

There are some exemptions for renewal of KSNC registration and you can decide on the renewal based on your category.

Category 1. Renewal Compulsory:

Nurses possessing Life-Member Registration Certificate from KSNC (Parent Nursing Council) and presently working in hospitals based in Karnataka State or in foreign countries have to renew their KSNC Registration, provided they have no active Registration from any other State Nursing Councils in India.

If you wish to renew you must have a still working certificate from the current employer issued within the last 3 month along with a copy of your passport and visa.

Category 2. Renewal not necessary:

Nurses possessing Life Member Registration Certificate from KSNC (Parent Nursing Council) and presently working in any other States in India or in any Foreign Hospitals, need not renew their KSNC Life Member Registration, provided they have done Reciprocal Registration in any other State Nursing Council in India and such Registration is presently active.  As per the Government rules, only one Active Registration is allowed.

First Renewal is done on completion of 3 years from the date of issue. and thereafter subsequent renewals have to be done every five years. As of now the renewal fee is only Rs 500/-.
So far there is no fine for late renewal.
