The Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council ( KNMC/ KNC) has stopped registration of Post Basic B.sc. Nursing and M.Sc. Nursing for those who acquired the qualification from outside Kerala after finding that most of these degrees are achieved through institutions running bogus courses. Many Nursing Colleges in Karnataka and Tamilnadu allows students to appear for the University Exam without attending the classes, which should be 2 yrs full time according to the INC ( Indian Nursing Council ) norm. In view of this, KNMC has taken permission from INC not to issue registration for those who studied these courses outside kerala.
As per the latest information received from KNC on 3rd week of October 2014, PB.B.Sc. Nursing and M.Sc.Nursing Registration for those who studied outside the state is still on hold but they may lift the ban soon.
